The Summit X770 switch supports Precision Time Protocol (PTP) for accurate timing and synchronization of devices on a network. The specifications for X770 Timing 1588 PTP are:

• Protocol Support: IEEE 1588-2008 PTP v2
• Grandmaster Clock: Supports hardware-based PTPv2 Grandmaster clock
• Precision: Provides nanosecond-precision time synchronization
• Unicast and Multicast Support: Supports both unicast and multicast transmission of PTP messages
• Transparent Clock: Supports hardware-based PTPv2 transparent clock
• Slave Clock: Supports hardware-based PTPv2 slave clock
• BMC Support: Supports Best Master Clock algorithm (BMC) for automatic selection of Grandmaster clock
• Management: PTP configuration and monitoring through CLI, SNMP, and Web GUI
• Synchronization: Provides synchronization with GPS-based timing source using optional GPS receiver module
